A police complaint has been filed against All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition, Edappadi Palaniswami, following a controversial incident involving an ambulance.Palaniswami had accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government of deliberately disrupting his public meetings by sending ambulances without patients. At a recent meeting in Anaicut, Vellore district, an ambulance arrived, angering him. He reportedly threatened that if another ambulance came to a future meeting, its driver would go to the hospital as a patient.
The Tamil Nadu 108 Ambulance Workers’ Progressive Association submitted a complaint letter to SP Aravind at the Madurai District Superintendent of Police office, demanding action against Palaniswami for his remarks.
An ambulance driver involved in the incident explained that he was transporting a female patient from Pallikonda to a hospital and had to pass through Anaicut.
