The Tamil Nadu government has announced its decision to conduct a comprehensive census of migrant workers across all 38 districts of the state.The move comes as an estimated 35 lakh migrant workers are currently employed within Tamil Nadu.
The census aims to collect detailed data on the migrant worker population, including the reasons for their migration, their current location, living conditions, health status, and the specific type of work they are doing.
A tender has been issued by the government to facilitate the census work, highlighting the state’s commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of this significant workforce.
