In a dramatic turn of events within the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), party general secretary Vaiko has announced the suspension of deputy general secretary Mallai Sathya from all party positions.
The decision comes after escalating differences between Mallai Sathya, Vaiko, and MDMK’s principal secretary Durai Vaiko. Both sides had been trading accusations over the past few weeks, deepening the rift within the party.
Tensions peaked when Vaiko allegedly called Sathya a “traitor,” prompting the latter to stage a hunger strike in Chennai along with his supporters, expressing his displeasure.
Following this, Vaiko released an official statement announcing disciplinary action against Mallai Sathya.
“Mallai Sathya has engaged in activities against the party’s interests. His actions were in violation of party principles and have brought disrepute to MDMK. Therefore, I have decided to initiate disciplinary action,” Vaiko said.
As per the announcement, Mallai Sathya has been temporarily suspended from all his positions in the party. He has been asked to submit a written explanation within 15 days.
