DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth said her party’s alliance will win the upcoming Assembly elections. She spoke at a press conference in Tiruchirappalli.
She announced the second phase of the “Ullam Thedi Illam Naadi” and “Makkalai Thedi Makkal Thalaivar” roadshow will start on September 5 and continue for 10 days. The party will soon share the full schedule.
Premalatha said she supports a coalition government in Tamil Nadu, saying it would serve people better. She added that DMDK will reveal its choice of alliance at the party’s conference in Cuddalore on January 9.
She praised her late husband Vijayakanth, calling him a “people’s leader” after MGR. She said it was good that his name is still widely discussed in politics.
Premalatha downplayed reports about actor Vijay’s party meeting issues, saying every party faces similar problems. She also asked for a fair rule on party flags and banners after a DMDK district secretary was denied permission.
She congratulated actor Rajinikanth on completing 50 years in cinema, saying DMDK was among the first to honor him. She added that Vijayakanth would have hosted a big celebration if he were alive. On Nadigar Sangam’s silence, she said it was their choice.
