Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has accused the DMK government of using police officers for its political agenda. He made the remarks in a post on X.Annamalai said the government has turned top police posts into political positions and ignored Supreme Court rules on appointing the Director General of Police (DGP).
He claimed that even though six officers were eligible, the state appointed an interim DGP to block their promotions. He said the government failed to send a list of eligible officers to the Union Public Service Commission six months before the previous DGP retired, as required by the court.
Annamalai also noted that the government knew the retirement date of former DGP Shankar Jiwal when he was appointed. He alleged that some senior officers are acting like DMK workers and warned the government that âtheir game will soon end.â
