State HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekarbabu has hit back at Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s remarks about a change in Tamil Nadu’s government, saying it is the BJP that faces the risk of losing all its Assembly seats in 2026.“The BJP has only four MLAs now. After the 2026 elections, that number will drop to zero,” Sekarbabu said. He added that the INDIA bloc’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections has already shown the limits of the BJP’s influence.
The minister also defended the use of HR&CE funds for education and welfare projects, pointing out that earlier governments, including those led by K. Kamaraj, M. Bakthavatsalam, M. Karunanidhi, and the AIADMK, had followed similar practices.
Sekarbabu made the remarks while inspecting the Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Arts and Science College under construction in Kolathur. The ₹25-crore project includes 22 classrooms and a ₹8.88-crore shelter for 100 orphaned and elderly people.
