Dindivanam, September 1, 2025 – Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) MLA R. Arul has said that the decision on whether the party will ally with the AIADMK for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be made by party founder Dr. S. Ramadoss.
Speaking to reporters at the PMK’s action committee office in Thailapuram, Arul confirmed that a letter seeking clarification had been sent to party president Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss. However, it is unclear whether Anbumani has responded. A meeting with senior committee members was held in Thailapuram today, and the outcome will be communicated to Dr. Ramadoss for a final decision.
Asked about AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s statement questioning a possible alliance, Arul said, “We will accept Dr. Ramadoss’s decision. The alliance he chooses is likely to win and form the next government. People’s expectations will be met through the decision he takes.”
He added that party cadres were hopeful of a meeting between Dr. Ramadoss and Anbumani soon. “Members expect Dr. Ramadoss to listen to Anbumani and take a call as the working chairman,” Arul said.
The PMK has a history of alternating alliances in Tamil Nadu politics. Its decision this time will play a key role in shaping the political landscape ahead of the 2026 elections.
