Chennai, Sept 8:
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin returned from his overseas trip (to Germany and England) to respond sharply to criticisms from AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), calling them signs of envy over his success.
Stalin said that foreign companies are now eager to invest in Tamil Naduāsomething no other state has achieved. He claimed to have completed a highly successful investment-focused trip abroad. “I returned with satisfaction, knowing this was the most fruitful trip Iāve ever made,” he said. Stalin also noted that many global firms are lining up to invest in the state.
He praised his Industrial Minister, T.R.B. Raja, for his energetic and effective leadership in facilitating this progress. Speaking at a public event, Stalin expressed frustration that some critics couldnāt tolerate his success.
He added, “I always focus closely on land title registrations for poor people. We have already issued titles to 1.7 million householdsāmore than our goal of 500,000.” Stalin said the state has provided land title deeds worth ā¹1,672 crore, accomplishing important welfare goals in every district.
Stalin added that his government practices transparent governance, whereas EPS operates with a āhalf-displayā styleāreferring to his report cards and policy statements. He said, āEPSās statements come off as showy. He just recites legacy names but offers no real action.ā
During his trip, Stalin secured 33 memorandums of understanding (MoUs), attracting investments worth ā¹15,516 crore. The details include:
Germany: 26 MoUs worth ā¹7,020 crore, expected to generate employment for around 15,320 people.
United Kingdom: 7 MoUs worth ā¹8,496 crore, creating jobs for approximately 2,293 people.
“My one-week trip to Germany and UK was satisfying and it was a victorious trip leading to attracting Rs 15,516 crore investment that would provide jobs to 17,613 people. Totally, 33 MoUs were signed. My foreign trip has been a huge success,” he told reporters.
Stalin said the vibrant industrial climate has encouraged the 17 firms to go on an expansion in Tamil Nadu, deciding against migrating to other states.
This investment drive marks a significant success for the Tamil Nadu government and underlines CM Stalinās global outreach in boosting the stateās economic prospects.
