Tiruppur, Sept 12: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has accused the DMK government of betraying the people of Tamil Nadu. He was speaking at an election campaign in Madathukulam.
EPS said the government talks about welfare but fails to act. He criticized them for discussing the Anaimalaiaaru–Nallaru dam issue with Kerala instead of protecting Tamil Nadu’s farmers. He warned that if action is not taken, farmers will feel betrayed.
He recalled AIADMK’s past work, such as repairing ponds and tanks, cleaning rainwater systems, and giving free soil to farmers to improve fertility. He said these steps had helped farmers in a big way.
EPS also attacked the government for raising taxes. He said electricity charges have gone up by 67 percent, while property, house, and water taxes have doubled. He promised that if AIADMK comes back to power, they will reopen the Amravati sugar factory and ensure 24-hour electricity for farmers.
