On the 117th birthday of Perarignar Anna, Sasikala, former AIADMK leader, laid flowers at Anna’s portrait at her home in Chennai.Speaking to reporters, she said that AIADMK alone has done everything for Anna — putting up his statue, preserving his books, and carrying on his ideas through MGR and Jayalalithaa.
She criticized the current government and said the Chief Minister’s foreign trip was pointless. The government promised investments of ₹15,516 crore and 17,000 jobs from that trip. She said most of the so-called “new” industries already exist here — only about 11% are truly new.
Sasikala claimed that textile units in Tirupur and Erode are shutting down due to tax issues in the U.S. She warned that 3.2 million jobs are at risk. She also said seafood exports worth ₹23,000 crore are being affected.
Because of this, she argued, when the state is facing a financial crisis, foreign tours by the CM are wasteful.
