At the DMK’s Mupperum Vizha held in Karur, Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin struck a confident note, declaring that his party will return to power in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He said the DMK’s governance, policies, and commitment to people’s welfare have earned the trust of the people.
Reaffirming faith in his party’s strength, Stalin said, “The people have seen our work. They trust DMK’s leadership. We will win again in 2026.”
Turning his attention to the AIADMK, Stalin mocked Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) for meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. He said such gestures expose the AIADMK’s dependence on the BJP. Stalin added that AIADMK lacks the political strength or credibility to mount a serious challenge to the DMK in the next election.
Without naming him directly, Stalin also took a veiled swipe at actor Vijay, who has recently announced his entry into politics. Recalling several past leaders and celebrities who promised to “bring change” but later faded away, Stalin remarked, “They spoke of change, but they themselves changed. DMK has not changed and will not vanish.” His statement was seen as a message to Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has begun building its base ahead of 2026.
Stalin sharpened his attack on the BJP, asserting that the party has “no place in Tamil Nadu.” He accused the BJP-led Union government of repeatedly undermining state rights, imposing Hindi, denying exemption from NEET, cutting funds for education, and interfering with democratic processes like elections.
“India’s real strength lies in its states. Tamil Nadu will never bow down to domination from the Union Government,” he said to loud cheers from party cadres.
Highlighting the party’s roots and principles, Stalin reminded the gathering that the DMK was built by stalwarts like C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi. He said the party continues to uphold their ideals and remains committed to standing with the people of Tamil Nadu.
“We are a party of principles, not opportunism. Our journey is with the people and for the people,” he said, closing his speech on a note of confidence.
The Mupperum Vizha in Karur was marked by massive participation of cadres and leaders, reflecting DMK’s show of strength as it gears up for the political battles ahead.
