A 35-year-old Tamilaga Valvurimai Katchi (TVaK) functionary was hacked to death in Krishnagiri district following a financial dispute.
The victim, Ravi Shankar, served as the union treasurer of Kelamangalam East. On Sunday morning, while he was out for a walk near his village in Rayakottai, two youths attacked him with weapons. He tried to escape but was chased and assaulted in public.
Bystanders rushed him to Krishnagiri Government Hospital in an ambulance, but he died on the way.
Police investigations revealed that Ravi Shankar had borrowed money from the two accused, Adhi (20) and Rashid (21), and failed to repay. This reportedly led to the fatal attack.
Shoolagiri police registered a case and arrested both suspects. Further inquiries are on.
