Former AIADMK leader Marudhu Azhaguraj has joined the DMK in the presence of party president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Azhaguraj, who had long been active in the AIADMK, sided with O. Panneerselvam when the party split between him and Edappadi K. Palaniswami. However, he later grew dissatisfied even within the OPS camp. On his social media handle, he openly criticised Palaniswami and expressed views supportive of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay.
Now, Azhaguraj has formally entered the DMK fold. It is notable that he contested in the 2021 Assembly elections from the Tirupattur constituency as an AIADMK candidate.
