AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has accused the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu of rampant corruption across multiple departments, claiming the state is already “on its knees.” Speaking at a recent public event, he pointed to various scandals, alleging systemic mismanagement and financial irregularities under the DMK’s rule.Palaniswami highlighted the 2G spectrum scam as a prime example of corruption at the state level. He further alleged irregularities in civic bodies, including Madurai Corporation, as well as local governments in Tirunelveli, Kancheepuram, and Coimbatore. According to him, these scams have undermined public trust and harmed citizens.
Addressing the issue of healthcare, Palaniswami criticised the kidney racket scandal, claiming that no arrests have been made in hospitals operated by institutions linked to the DMK. He warned that investigations and legal action would be pursued when the AIADMK returns to power after the 2026 Assembly elections.
On public transport, he mocked the condition of the DMK’s pink bus service, describing the buses as poorly maintained, with leaky roofs and tyres that come off, calling it a failure of the state government to provide safe and reliable transport.
Palaniswami also targeted the DMK’s promises, accusing the party of making false pledges, such as the removal of NEET, to gain voter support. He urged the public to end what he described as the DMK’s “dynasty rule” in Tamil Nadu.
The AIADMK leader’s remarks reflect growing political tension ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, with corruption and governance issues expected to dominate the campaign narrative.
