Fantasy rom-com
Kiss, the directorial debut of choreographer Sathish, is a refreshing fantasy rom-com that mixes humor, magic, and heartfelt emotions. Starring Kavin and Preethi Asrani, the film also features a strong supporting cast including Devayani, Kowsalya, Rao Ramesh, VTV Ganesh, RJ Vijay, and Shakthi. With music by Jen Martin, the movie creates a colorful and whimsical atmosphere that adds to its charm.
The story begins with an animated prologue about a cursed king, setting a fantastical tone. In the present, Kavin’s character struggles with his father’s infidelity and has distanced himself from love. His life changes when a dancer (Preethi Asrani) gives him a magical book that reveals the future of couples who kiss. This leads to comic moments, emotional twists, and eventually, a tense revelation about his own relationship.
Sathish successfully balances fantasy, comedy, and romance. The first half is light-hearted, with VTV Ganesh and RJ Vijay delivering memorable comic relief. The second half focuses on emotions, relationships, and personal growth, with Kavin and Preethi Asrani delivering strong performances. Devayani’s pre-climax scene adds depth, while Rao Ramesh and Shakthi provide solid support. Jen Martin’s music and the vibrant cinematography enhance both the fun and emotional moments.
Kiss may not be a typical rom-com, but its mix of magic, humor, and romance makes it enjoyable. Sathish’s debut is promising, offering a heartwarming and imaginative cinematic experience for fantasy-romance fans.
