Tiruchy, Sept 23: Tamil Nadu Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, K.N. Nehru, has responded to actor-turned-politician Vijay’s recent remarks questioning the development of Trichy despite having two ministers from the district. Addressing the media in Trichy, Nehru stated that such criticisms often come from individuals unfamiliar with the region’s realities. He emphasized that residents of the area are aware of the ongoing progress and developments.
Nehru highlighted that over the past four and a half years, approximately ₹35,000 crore has been allocated to Trichy district through various state government schemes. He noted that the district administration has provided detailed explanations regarding these allocations. The minister also mentioned that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been particularly attentive to the development needs of Trichy and the Delta regions.
In response to Vijay’s criticism, Nehru pointed out that the district is undergoing significant transformation. He cited the upcoming establishment of a new company in Manapparai, which is expected to bring about substantial changes to Trichy. Nehru expressed confidence in the state’s progress and asserted that the DMK would emerge victorious in the upcoming 2026 elections, with Chief Minister Stalin returning for a second term.
