Pathway Productions has released the first single from their upcoming social drama Carmeni Selvam. Titled “Carmeni”, the song was launched yesterday.Written as a moving monologue, the track captures the struggles of Selvam, a taxi driver torn between honesty and survival. His dreams of securing a better future for his wife Shanti and son Balu clash with the harsh reality where “honesty doesn’t pay EMIs.”
The central line, “Peraasai patta dhan iraivan tharuvan” (Only if you are greedy will God give you), highlights the film’s core theme of moral compromise. The song mirrors Selvam’s grind, while the chorus echoes his plea for stability.
Directed by Ram Chakri, Carmeni Selvam stars Samuthirakani in a powerful role. The director praised the actor, calling him “wonderful” and adding that he is “complimented well by Gautam Vasudev Menon.” Chakri further said the film will be “engaging and entertaining.”
Though both are filmmakers themselves, both never interfered in my work, he added.
Carmeni Selvam releases worldwide on October 17, with plans underway for a grand Diwali release.
