Researchers from IIT and AIIMS Jodhpur have created a new AI tool to better detect malnutrition in children. The system, called DomainAdapt, studies photos of children to measure height, weight, and arm size. It can then identify problems like stunting, wasting, and being underweight.
To build this, the team also made a large photo dataset named AnthroVision. It has nearly 17,000 images of over 2,000 children, taken in hospitals and villages with different backgrounds and lighting.
The researchers said this AI method is quick and easy to use. It reduces the need for manual checks and can help in areas where doctors and health workers are fewer.
