US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that clears the way for TikTok to continue in the country.
The order supports a deal to bring TikTok under American ownership. Trump said this will solve national security concerns.
TikTok is owned by China’s ByteDance. The app faced a possible ban in the US. The new deal could save it.
Trump told reporters that Chinese President Xi Jinping had agreed to the arrangement. “They’re on board,” he said. He joked that if he controlled TikTok, he would make it “100% MAGA.”
Vice President JD Vance said the deal will give American investors control over TikTok’s algorithm. He added that the aim is to keep the app free from foreign propaganda and ensure fairness for all users.
