In the wake of the tragic Karur rally stampede that claimed 41 lives, legal representatives for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) have strongly asserted that the incident was part of a “massive conspiracy” against their leader, Vijay. They contend that the full truth will emerge only if the case is handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).At the Madurai High Court, TVK lawyer Arivazhagan submitted a petition calling for a CBI inquiry, contending that the state police and authorities may have suppressed critical evidence. He claimed that elements within the government are actively trying to distort the narrative to shield those responsible.
In his statements to the media, the lawyer argued that the police failed in basic duty of protection and security during Vijay’s Karur campaign event. He alleged that mysterious individuals threw shoes at party workers during the gathering, and that attempts were being made to destroy traces of wrongdoing.
The petition names former minister Senthil Balaji as one of the persons behind the alleged conspiracy. It also asserts that prior to the rally, ambulances had been stalled, and preparations were deliberately hindered to amplify the tragedy.
The TVK faction maintains that only a thorough, unbiased CBI investigation can unravel the true chain of events. The petition was filed through their representative, Adhav Arjuna, on behalf of the party.
