A petition has been filed in the Chennai High Court seeking the Tamil Nadu government to formulate guidelines for political parties’ road shows. The petition was filed by Dinesh from Villivakkam, Chennai, in the wake of the tragic incident in Karur where 41 people lost their lives during a road show by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president, Thirunavukkarasu. The petitioner emphasized the need for safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The petition suggests that the police should prevent children from attending such events and that political parties should be held accountable for any violations of safety norms. It also calls for a ban on road shows until safety guidelines are established. The matter is currently under consideration by the court.
The tragic incident in Karur has raised concerns about the safety of public gatherings and the need for stricter regulations to ensure public safety during political events.
