Two more people have been arrested in connection with the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, bringing the total number of arrests to four. The latest arrests include his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprabha Mahanta. Authorities said new evidence linked them to the case.
Earlier, Siddharth Sharma, Gargās manager, and Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of a festival in Singapore where Garg died, were taken into custody. They were charged under sections of the law including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence. A murder charge has also been added to the FIR.
Police are examining video footage from the Singapore event, which reportedly shows Goswami swimming near Garg and Mahanta recording on her phone. Investigators are also seeking to travel to Singapore to further the probe.
