Congress leader Selvaperunthagai today criticized AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accusing him of engaging in “low-level” and crude political tactics during his public meetings.
Speaking to journalists in Chennai, Selvaperunthagai said Palaniswami speaks in a degrading way, dragging others into mudslinging and making personal attacks.
Although Selvaperunthagai affirmed that his party would not abandon the DMK-led alliance, he emphasized that his party has raised objections in the legislature over issues such as increased electricity tariffs and property taxes — issues that affect everyday citizens. He asserted that even as part of the alliance, they must maintain the right to protest when people suffer.
On the question of demanding more electoral seats or higher positions in government, Selvaperunthagai clarified that he has never publicly sought additional constituencies or posts. He noted that their campaign work had begun quietly months ago, without theatrics or sensationalism.
