The Tamil Nadu government has mandated that firecrackers may only be burst for two hours during the Deepavali festival.The restricted timings will be from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM in the morning, and 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the evening.
Authorities have also instructed that only low-pollution or environmentally cleaner crackers be used, in order to reduce noise and air pollution.
This regulation follows past Supreme Court orders and the state’s ongoing effort to balance festival traditions with environmental and public health concerns.
