Washington, Oct 16: A Ukrainian government delegation has met with representatives of Lockheed Martin and Raytheon during a US visit, aiming to strengthen cooperation with the two companies as Ukraine seeks further help against Russia’s war.The delegation is seeking cruise missiles, air defense systems, and joint drone production agreements from the US.
Raytheon produces Patriot air defense systems and Tomahawk cruise missiles, which could allow Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russia, including Moscow.
Lockheed Martin also manufactures sophisticated weapon systems that can help Ukraine.
While President Zelenskyy is expected to request Trump’s go-ahead to procure Tomahawks, Washington has hesitated due to concerns about escalating the war and deepening tensions between the US and Russia.
NATO defense ministers are meeting in Brussels to maintain weapons supplies to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine and Russia continue to engage in daily attacks on each other’s energy assets, with Ukraine attempting to dent Russian fuel supplies and oil revenue while Russia seeks to cripple the Ukrainian power grid before winter.
