A potential disaster was averted at Chennai airport on October 19 when the alert pilot of an Air India Express flight bound for Bengaluru detected a technical snag during the takeoff roll.The flight, with 104 passengers and five crew members onboard, was gaining speed on the runway at 10:35 AM when the pilot noticed the issue.
The pilot immediately alerted Air Traffic Control, and the plane was brought to a halt and safely returned to the bay.
All passengers were safely disembarked. Technical engineers promptly repaired the snag, and the aircraft departed for Bengaluru at 12:00 noon after a delay of about 90 minutes.
The incident highlights the crucial role of vigilant pilots and rapid response teams in ensuring passenger safety. Airport authorities and the airline emphasized that passenger safety is their utmost priority and praised the professionalism displayed during the incident.
