The CBI has submitted its first report in the Karur stampede case. The report was given to the Judicial Magistrate Court in Karur. The stampede took place during a crowd-pulling event earlier this year and 41 people lost their lives. The investigation was first done by a special team of the state police. Later, the Supreme Court ordered the case to be handed over to the CBI.
A six-member CBI team then visited the spot in Karur and collected details from officials and witnesses. After completing the first round of inquiry, the agency has now filed its initial findings in court.
The CBI is expected to continue its investigation and file more reports in the coming weeks.
