During an inspection of paddy procurement activities in Thanjavur, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin criticized Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accusing him of making false allegations regarding the state’s ongoing paddy procurement drive.Udhayanidhi clarified that the number of procurement centers in Thanjavur has increased from 200 to 300 and assured that all procurement operations would be completed within the next ten days.
He noted that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had ordered the early opening of these centers — a month ahead of schedule — to benefit farmers.
He further dismissed the opposition’s claims about improper handling and storage, explaining that in the Cauvery delta districts, there is adequate space to store over two lakh paddy bags.
Therefore, there is no risk of the paddy getting wet or sprouting, he assured reporters.
