AIADMK Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami has accused the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu of massive corruption amounting to Rs 800 crore in the appointment process for local body posts. He alleged that large-scale irregularities occurred in the recruitment for vacant positions in municipal administration and drinking water supply departments.Palaniswami claimed this corrupt ājob racketā involved financial transactions exceeding Rs 800 crore. According to him, several complaints have emerged regarding the scheme where bribes ranging from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh were collected from candidates aspiring to secure jobs.
These funds were allegedly transferred illegally through certain companies with connections to the DMK Minister K.N. Nehru and his relatives.
He urged the Tamil Nadu Police Deputy Inspector General in charge to promptly file a preliminary investigation report without shielding any individuals involved in the scandal. Palaniswami condemned the DMK government for corruption that exploits the dreams and hard work of unemployed youth, accusing it of greedily exploiting public resources while claiming governance.
He emphasized that if Chief Minister Stalin does not restrain the police, such rampant corruption and exploitation will continue, harming the hopes of youth who toil day and night seeking employment. Palaniswamiās remarks highlight growing concerns over governance and transparency within the stateās local administration.
He stated, āThe DMKās city administration and water supply departments blatantly engage in corruption that wounds the dignity of Tamil Nadu.ā
