In a recent address to the DMK booth-level agents in Tiruvarur, State Minister and DMK Principal Secretary KN Nehru asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) attempts to weaken the DMK ahead of the upcoming assembly elections would fail. He emphasized the dedication and hard work of DMK cadres in ensuring victory through meticulous voter verification and strengthening party presence across constituencies.
KN Nehru highlighted the importance of vigilance in the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) process of the electoral rolls, based on the voters list of 2002. He urged workers to carefully monitor the deletion and addition of voter names, particularly focusing on new voters settling in the district, while cautioning against dubious inclusions. This is critical given that 45 percent of the current voters in Tiruvarur exist from that earlier list.
The minister also pointed out the differing dynamics between urban and rural areas regarding new voter settlements and urged cadres to oppose suspicious inclusions strongly. He emphasized that workers should not be concerned about voters who had died or migrated but remain alert about new voters who might impact electoral outcomes.
Nehru criticized the BJP for targeting the DMK with strategic moves meant to destabilize the party before elections. However, he expressed confidence that the DMK party workers’ diligence and unity would counter these attempts. He urged them to coordinate smoothly with election officials and ensure that booth committee members are well-informed and prepared.
The message reflects DMK’s focus on grassroots mobilization and voter roll integrity as they prepare to face BJP’s political challenges. The call for vigilance and hard work underscores DMK’s determination to protect its electoral base and secure victories in all four assembly segments of the Tiruvarur district.
