To handle the heavy passenger rush during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season, the Southern Railway (SR) has announced a series of special trains between Chennai and Kollam (Kerala). The services will operate from November 14, 2025, to January 19, 2026, ensuring smoother travel and better connectivity for devotees.
According to the schedule:
Train No. 06111 – Chennai Egmore–Kollam Express Special will leave Chennai Egmore at 11:55 PM on Fridays (from Nov 14 to Jan 16) and reach Kollam at 4:30 PM the next day.
Train No. 06112 – Kollam–Chennai Egmore Express Special will depart Kollam at 7:35 PM on Saturdays (from Nov 15 to Jan 17) and arrive Egmore at 12 noon the following day.
Train No. 06113 – Dr. MGR Chennai Central–Kollam Weekly Express Special will start from Chennai Central at 11:50 PM on Sundays (from Nov 16 to Jan 18) and reach Kollam at 4:30 PM the next day.
Train No. 06114 – Kollam–Dr. MGR Chennai Central Weekly Express Special will depart Kollam at 6:30 PM on Mondays (from Nov 17 to Jan 19) and reach Chennai Central at 11:30 AM the next day.
The special services are aimed at providing a comfortable and convenient travel option for thousands of Sabarimala pilgrims commuting between Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the peak pilgrimage season.

Southern Railway has urged passengers to book their tickets early to avoid last-minute rush.
