Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin officially unveiled the trophy for the upcoming 14th Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup, which is set to be hosted jointly by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and Hockey India. The tournament will be held from November 28 to December 10, with matches taking place in Chennai’s Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium and Madurai’s Sports Development Authority Hockey Stadium.
This prestigious event will feature 24 junior men’s teams from around the world. The Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs 44.36 crore to organize the tournament successfully.
The event aims to boost youth interest in hockey and promote Tamil Nadu as a major hub for international sports.Stalin expressed pride in Tamil Nadu’s rising reputation in the sports arena, citing the development of state-of-the-art facilities and hosting of other international tournaments such as the Chess Olympiad and Squash World Cup.
The tournament will also give visitors a glimpse of Tamil Nadu’s rich culture and hospitality.
Sports officials, including Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey, highlighted the significance of hosting the Junior World Cup in India, especially in Tamil Nadu, and praised the government’s support for nurturing future hockey stars.
