Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin on Friday called on his party’s booth-level agents to stay alert and prevent any attempt at “vote theft” during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu, stressing that it was their “responsibility to protect democracy.”Speaking at the wedding of a party leader’s son, Stalin said that preventing irregularities in voter lists was crucial to ensuring free and fair elections.
“It is our duty to prevent irregularities before they occur. Our booth-level agents must function as guardians of democracy and ensure every genuine voter remains on the list,” he said.
Referring to the case filed by the DMK in the Supreme Court over alleged discrepancies in the electoral rolls, Stalin said, “The legal battle is one side, but field vigilance is equally vital.”
The Chief Minister also reiterated that the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) will organize statewide protests at district headquarters on November 11 to draw attention to the alleged irregularities in the voter list revision process.
Drawing parallels with other states, Stalin cited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against ‘voter roll theft’ in Karnataka and Haryana, stating, “Such things must never be allowed in Tamil Nadu. Before it happens, it is our responsibility to prevent it.”
He urged DMK cadres and booth agents to carry out their duties with diligence and ensure that the electoral process remains transparent, fair, and reflective of the people’s true mandate.
