In a shocking incident in Trichy on Monday, a 25-year-old man named Thamaraiselvan was brutally hacked to death inside the police housing quarters in Bheema Nagar.The victim was chased by a five-member gang wielding sickles while he was on his way to work on his two-wheeler.
In a desperate attempt to escape, Thamaraiselvan sought refuge inside the house of Selvaraj, a Special Sub-Inspector attached to the Thillai Nagar police station.
Despite seeking shelter, the gang followed him into the residence and repeatedly attacked him, resulting in his death on the spot before fleeing the scene.
The assault took place even as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was visiting Trichy, intensifying public concern over law and order in the state.
Following the incident, police launched a swift manhunt and apprehended one of the attackers, Ilamaran, whose confession helped arrest four others—Satish, Prabhakaran, Nandu, and Ganesan
