Speaking to the media in Coimbatore, AIADMK general secretary and Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) accused the ruling DMK of opposing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls because the DMK is unable to manipulate bogus votes for the 2026 assembly elections. He asserted that the AIADMK had petitioned the Supreme Court to ensure transparency and expose false information allegedly being registered by the DMK during the revision process. EPS questioned why the DMK and its alliance partners were creating panic by spreading misinformation that SIR would disenfranchise voters when the exercise has been conducted eight times in Tamil Nadu in the past without issues. EPS claimed that the DMK raises unnecessary objections, including blaming the alliance between AIADMK and BJP, because it has no valid criticism against the AIADMK government. He emphasized that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had clarified AIADMK would lead the alliance and nominate EPS as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
