In the ongoing investigation into the tragic stampede that occurred on September 27, in Velusamypuram, Karur district, Tamil Nadu, officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are actively questioning injured victims as part of their probe.
The incident happened during a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) political rally led by actor and party president Vijay, resulting in 41 deaths and over 110 injuries.
The Supreme Court had ordered the CBI to take over the case to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation. Since then, the CBI has summoned and interrogated numerous individuals connected to the incident, including over 20 ambulance drivers and vehicle owners who were present at the event.
In recent developments, the CBI has been conducting detailed questioning of victims injured in the stampede for the past four days. On a recent Wednesday morning, three injured persons appeared before the CBI officials at the Karur Public Works Department Guest House for further inquiries. Notably, the inquiry team also questioned TVK office assistant Guru Saraneed from Chennai’s Panaiyur.
