Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin made a pointed and veiled criticism of actor-turned-politician Vijay, who leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Udhayanidhi commented on the nature of Arivu Thiruvizha event and the political stance of TVK, hinting that true intelligence and ideology would manifest through genuine actions rather than symbolic or superficial displays.
He remarked, “How a thief fears the police when his name is called, similarly, certain people get allergic just by hearing the word ‘intelligence’.”
The event, which was titled as a celebration of intelligence (“Arivu Thiruvizha”), was interpreted by Udhayanidhi as a veiled attempt by TVK to target and criticize the DMK indirectly.
Udhayanidhi further accused TVK of straying from core principles, questioning the party’s credibility and criticizing them for lacking a solid ideological foundation.
He highlighted the difference between superficial claims of social justice and the real work carried out by established parties. This was not an isolated jab; the Tiruvizha also sparked wider political discussions and marked continuing tensions between DMK and TVK ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.
