Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth has made it clear that the party has not officially entered into discussions about alliances with any political formations as the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach. Speaking to reporters following a booth committee meeting in Madurai, she emphasized that while the DMDK maintains friendly relations with all parties in Tamil Nadu, no formal alliance talks have taken place yet.Premalatha stated that the party’s current focus remains on internal organizational activities such as establishing booth committees, conducting election work, and preparations for the upcoming party conference. She highlighted events like the “Captain’s Guru Pooja” and ongoing party growth initiatives as top priorities.Regarding the alliance question, Premalatha said it will be addressed during the party’s scheduled convention later this year. “The alliance talks will occur at the time of the conference, and the final decision will be confirmed then,” she said. She reassured that all Tamil Nadu parties are comrades in some measure, and it cannot be said that anyone is not an ally in the true sense. The DMDK’s chairman and founder, the late Captain Vijayakanth, had always maintained a clear and independent political stance, and Premalatha has affirmed that the party continues to uphold that legacy by not rushing into pre-poll alliances prematurely. The party’s organizational tour, “Ullam Thedi Illam Naadi,” has started from Madurai and will conclude in Erode by December 2. This outreach aims to strengthen the party base and mobilize grassroots workers for the upcoming election season. @@@
