As part of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) ahead of the 2026 General Elections, the Greater Chennai Corporation has announced that 947 Voter Assistance Centres will operate across the city from today until November 25. In a press release, Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran said special voter list revision work is underway in all 16 Assembly constituencies under the Chennai district. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are visiting households to distribute and collect voter forms as part of the process. The assistance centres will help citizens clarify doubts, fill and submit voter forms, and verify their details. The centres will function daily from 10 AM to 6 PM. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities may visit with an accompanying person, and required documents will be verified on the spot. As per Election Commission of India guidelines, authorised booth-level agents of recognised political parties can submit up to 50 completed forms per day along with the required declaration to the respective BLOs until the publication of the draft electoral roll. The initiative aims to ensure that all eligible voters are properly included and outdated entries in the electoral roll are updated in time for the 2026 elections. @@@
