A Low Pressure Area over the Bay of Bengal continues to persist, expected to intensify the Northeast monsoon rainfall activity in Tamil Nadu over the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, the system, currently located over the Southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka’s coast, is moving slowly west-northwestwards and is accompanied by an upper air cyclonic circulation. Additionally, a new Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22. This new system is expected to become more marked and will further intensify rainfall activity across several parts of Tamil Nadu. In light of the heavy rain forecast, Revenue and Disaster Management Department has instructed district collectors to implement precautionary measures. These include opening relief camps equipped with food, drinking water, and medical facilities for people evacuated from river embankments and low-lying areas. Community kitchens will also be activated to provide meals for those in relief shelters.A 24/7 state control room has been established to monitor the situation continuously. @@@@
