A huge hit among garden lovers in Chennai Chennai, Nov 17 ( The newly strengthened Horticulture Nursery and TANHODA Outlet at the proposed Eco Park in Guindy has quickly emerged as a preferred spot for garden enthusiasts, home growers, and families seeking eco-friendly weekend activities. Located within the upcoming Eco Park premises, the nursery showcases a diverse collection of ornamental plants, fruit saplings, medicinal species, indoor plants, native tree varieties, and high-quality planting materials produced by state-owned nurseries. Managed by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Development Agency (TANHODA), the outlet also offers organic inputs including bio-fertilisers, bio-control agents, potting mixtures, seeds, and horticultural tools at affordable prices. Officials said the initiative aims to promote green living, encourage urban kitchen gardening, and provide easy access to quality planting materials for the public. The nursery has also become a learning hub, where visitors receive basic guidance on gardening, plant care, and home landscaping from trained staff. Families visiting the Eco Park area are increasingly stopping by the nursery, drawn by its neatly arranged plant collections and user-friendly displays. With seasonal flowering plants, terrace garden saplings, and native species in high demand, the outlet has recorded a steady rise in footfall. To further boost public engagement, the department is planning hands-on demonstrations and gardening awareness programmes. Officials added that the nursery supports the government’s mission to expand green cover, promote urban horticulture, and develop self-sustaining eco-friendly recreational spaces in Chennai. The Horticulture Department has encouraged the public to visit the nursery and make use of the diverse plants and resources available. @@@
