S. Ramadoss, founder of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), will take part in the statewide protest organized on December 12, 2025, pressing the Tamil Nadu government to implement a 10.5% reservation quota for the Vanniyar community. The protest, held under the banner of PMK, aims to highlight the demand for caste-based census followed by proportional reservation benefits based on population data. Ramadoss has called for unity among all castes and stated that the movement is for social justice and equitable distribution of welfare.
The agitation was originally scheduled for December 5 but was postponed by a week to garner broader participation and impact. Demonstrations will be held peacefully in front of district collector offices across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, where Ramadoss himself will actively participate.
The PMK founder emphasized that until a comprehensive caste-wise census is conducted, the state government should provide the interim quota to the Vanniyars to address long-standing grievances.
Ramadoss has reiterated that this protest is not confined to a single community but a call for justice for all based on accurate population data. The caste survey is seen as essential to ensure rightful representation and allocation of government resources.
PMK supporters have been urged to prepare rigorously for the protest to make it a strong and united movement demanding social equity ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.
