More than 100 BJP cadres were taken into custody on Monday after they staged a black flag protest against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during his visit to Coimbatore. The BJP alleged that the DMK government had submitted a flawed Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Coimbatore Metro Rail project, which was rejected by the Centre. The protest was also aimed at highlighting concerns over the safety of women and children.Stalin was in Coimbatore to inaugurate the Classical Language Park and witness the signing of MoUs at the TN Rising Investors Conclave, before proceeding to Erode for official events.
BJP Youth Wing members gathered near the Power House area, carrying party flags and placards, and raised slogans such as āGo Back Stalin.ā Police swiftly intervened and detained the protesters.
