The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Thursday passed a crucial resolution giving its leader Vijay complete authority to take final decisions on political alliances ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
At a meeting of the party’s state administrators and district secretaries, TVK adopted four key resolutions shaping its strategy for the 2026 polls. Central among them was the decision to empower Vijay to make all final calls on electoral alliances and negotiations — signaling strong internal support for his leadership.
The party also decided to form a special committee for election alliance discussions. While this committee will conduct negotiations with potential partners, the ultimate authority on alliance formation and seat sharing rests with Vijay, according to the resolution.
In addition, TVK announced plans to establish another committee tasked with preparing its election manifesto and promises. Party officials said these steps are intended to build a clear roadmap to “rescue Tamil Nadu and protect its people,” under Vijay’s stewardship.
The resolutions reflect TVK’s broader political messaging, including a pledge to challenge what it describes as a “corrupt DMK regime” and to launch a strong campaign against misinformation and slander from political opponents.
By positioning Vijay as both the chief ministerial candidate and the central strategist for alliances, TVK appears to be consolidating its leadership approach as it prepares to contest the 2026 state elections.
