Hyderabad, Dec 17: One of the accused in the Bondi Beach shooting in Australia had family links to Hyderabad, but his relatives said they had cut ties with him many years ago. The suspect had moved to Australia decades ago and had minimal contact with his family in India.
Family members said the break happened after he married a Christian woman, and they were unaware of any extremist views or activities.
Australian authorities say the father-son duo opened fire at a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, killing at least 15 people in what is being treated as a terror attack. Sajid was killed by police at the scene, while his 24-year-old son, Naveed Akram, was critically injured and is in hospital.
