Washington, Dec 17: US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order further tightening rules for the entry of foreign nationals into the United States. The move expands existing travel restrictions and strengthens visa screening in the name of national security. The order adds more countries to the travel ban list, with full or partial restrictions based on factors such as weak security checks, high visa overstay rates, and lack of proper documentation systems. However, exemptions will apply to green card holders, existing visa holders, and cases considered to be in the US national interest.
The White House said the decision aims to protect public safety by ensuring strict vetting of entrants. Critics, however, warn that the restrictions could affect families, international travel, and global ties.
