Fans of superstar Rajinikanth have a big reason to celebrate as Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, is now slated for release in August 2026, according to reports. The announcement comes shortly after the first Jailer film’s success in theatres.
The film reunites Rajinikanth with a strong ensemble cast, including Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa Menon, Yogi Babu, S.J. Suryah, Mohanlal and Sivaraj Kumar in key roles. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will also be seen in a significant part, adding pan-Indian appeal to the project.
Jailer 2 is expected to complete shooting by the end of December, after which post-production work will begin. With its multi-star lineup and high expectations following the first installment, the film is being positioned as one of 2026’s major releases.
