Tirunelveli, Dec 22: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin asserted that Tamil history and identity can never be surrendered or diluted, stating that the heritage of the Tamil civilisation stands as one of the world’s oldest and most respected cultures.
Speaking at a welfare scheme event in Tirunelveli, he said the upcoming Porunai Museum will be a proud symbol showcasing the depth, civilisation, and achievements of ancient Tamils.
Stalin alleged that the Union Government has repeatedly tried to delay and block the release of the Keezhadi excavation report, which highlights Tamil civilisation’s historic excellence. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to personally visit the Porunai Museum and understand the cultural greatness of Tamil heritage instead of ignoring it.
He accused the Centre of promoting what he termed “mythical narratives” while neglecting scientific and historical evidence relating to Tamil culture. According to him, this selective approach undermines India’s diversity and diminishes the importance of Tamil contributions to global civilisation.
Stalin also criticised the Central Government for discontinuing key welfare initiatives, particularly accusing it of weakening the 100-day rural employment guarantee scheme and forcing states to bear nearly 40% of the financial burden.
He questioned why former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami remained silent on such critical issues affecting the people of Tamil Nadu.
Emphasising that the struggle to defend Tamil language, identity, and history has continued for more than 2,000 years, Stalin declared that such a fight will never end in defeat. He said the state government will continue to safeguard Tamil pride and ensure that future generations understand and celebrate their cultural roots.
