Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai on Monday asserted that the DMK–Congress alliance remains strong and intact, dismissing speculation that the partnership may weaken ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Speaking to reporters, he said those hoping for a breakup of the alliance were “living in illusion,” adding that attempts by political opponents to create confusion would not succeed. The INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu, he said, continues to stand united.

Responding to remarks by Congress leader Praveen Chakravarty on the State’s financial situation, Selvaperunthagai clarified that the comments did not reflect the official party stand. He emphasised that decisions regarding the alliance rest with the national leadership of the Congress party.

He also defended the DMK government against criticism over debt levels, stating that unfair comparisons were being made to undermine the ruling coalition.
With political strategies intensifying ahead of future elections, Selvaperunthagai maintained that the DMK–Congress partnership would continue firmly, ensuring stability within the alliance in Tamil Nadu.
