Tamil Nadu awakened to a divine dawn on Vaikunta Ekadesi as thousands of devotees flocked to Perumal temples, their hearts filled with faith, devotion, and spiritual longing. The sacred Sorgavasal, also known as Paramapada Vasal, symbolising the celestial gateway to Lord Vishnu’s abode, was ceremoniously opened amid chanting of hymns, ringing temple bells, and overwhelming emotion among worshippers.
At the majestic Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple, the celebrations unfolded with resplendent grandeur. Devotees packed the temple corridors hours before sunrise, eagerly awaiting the divine moment when the heavenly doors would open.
Similar scenes of devotion were witnessed at Triplicane Parthasarathy Swamy Temple, Tirupati, and Perumal temples across the state, where lakhs of worshippers participated in special rituals and darshan.
Vaikunta Ekadesi is regarded as a sacred pathway to spiritual liberation, and devotees believe that passing through the Sorgavasal grants divine grace and blessings.
Many observe fasting, participate in bhajans, recite Vishnu Sahasranamam, and spend the day immersed in prayer and reflection.
Tamil Nadu made elaborate security and crowd-management arrangements, ensuring smooth movement of devotees through the sacred gateway. Special decorations, floral arrangements, traditional music ensembles, and vibrant spiritual ambience added to the sanctity of the celebrations.
The festival not only reaffirmed deep-rooted spiritual faith but also reflected Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural tradition, bringing together people of all ages in devotion and reverence. As the day progressed, chants of “Govinda! Govinda!” echoed through temple premises, carrying with them the essence of hope, devotion, and the eternal promise of divine grace
